Book a guided steroid injection

Ultrasound-guided steroid injections are specialist imaging appointments. Before a booking, you must have a referral from your health practitioner and a recent imaging report.

• Healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, hand therapists, podiatrists, and surgeons, can refer patients for ultrasound-guided steroid injections.

• ACC funds one steroid injection per accepted claim. To access a 2nd ACC-funded steroid injection, ACC Prior Approval is required - see below.

• Our charge for a privately funded guided steroid injection is $380.00.

• An appointment can be requested below, or by emailing support@soundexperience.co.nz When emailing, please include a clear version of the referral document.

• We’ll get in touch with the patient to arrange an appointment.

  2nd steroid injection ACC Prior Approval procedure

  ACC prior approval is required to fund second steroid injections, such as repeat injections for the same injury or for a bilaterally covered injury.

  Application & Approval Process:

1. The health practitioner emails a referral and this ACC Prior Approval request form to support@soundexperience.co.nz

2. Sound Experience applies to ACC Prior Approval, including the referral, ultrasound report, and Prior Approval request documents.

3. ACC's prior approval processing time can take 2-6 weeks. ACC does not guarantee approval for a 2nd injection
